We're excited to announce a new chapter in our partnership with Nissan! Starting from September 2024, we'll be collaborating to deliver Nissan's traditional manufacturing apprenticeship program, with a target intake of approximately 90 apprentices.

With this development, we are looking to recruit several strategically important staff to the organisation, who will play a pivotal role in supporting our partnership with Nissan and ensuring the delivery of high-quality apprenticeship programs.

Nissan & Sunderland College partnership

Sunderland College, part of Education Partnership North East, the top performing college group in the North East for student achievement. With more than 20 years in delivering highly successful courses, Sunderland College offers a diverse array of educational pathways tailored to meet the evolving needs of students. From traditional A-Levels to vocational courses and the latest T Levels, our institution provides a comprehensive range of options designed to we empower our students to realize their full potential and pursue their dreams with confidence.

Nissan Academy launched at City Campus

In June 2023, Nissan and Sunderland College initiated an innovative skills partnership aimed at bridging the gap between education and the world of work. This collaboration created 'The Nissan Academy,' offering students aged 14-16 a unique opportunity to pursue a specialized engineering qualification alongside their GCSEs.

Under the guidance of both the College faculty and Nissan's team of experts, pupils refine their technical skills essential for a career in advanced manufacturing and engineering. Upon successful completion of the program, Academy students are not only guaranteed an apprenticeship assessment with Nissan but also receive an unconditional offer to further their education at Sunderland College.

This initiative not only nurtures the next generation of skilled professionals but also strengthens the ties between academia and industry, building a workforce for the future.

Fueling Success: Partners Paving the Way Forward

Starting from September 2024, we'll be collaborating to deliver Nissan's traditional manufacturing apprenticeship program, with a target intake of approximately 90 apprentices.

This exciting partnership is an extension of the success achieved through the 14-16 Nissan Skills Academy, which was launched in June 2023 and will comprise of a range of apprenticeship programmes, including Level 3 Engineering Technician standard and Level 2 Manufacturing Operative standard. These initiatives are designed not only to meet the evolving needs of the local workforce but also to support the development of the 'workforce of the future (need to check this).
